Earth Hour 2011

19th March 2011
Earth Hour is back and I'm assuming you guys do understand the meaning behind it. For those who does not know the meaning to it then do go through the statement below:

"Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating. Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries/territories officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

On Saturday 27 March, Earth Hour 2010 became the biggest Earth Hour ever. A record 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet." - http://www.earthhour.org

So, what are we waiting for? Helping our Mother Earth with this method is one way of telling Her, We Love You and therefore, we should always go beyond this.......making a difference, in our lives and others.

What we, residents of Vista Bay could do to help and join in? We would definitely switch off our lights, not just inside our own home but the whole building as well. Nonetheless, we would still keep the lifts going as it's part of the necessity stuff but for those lights lighting our place, we would switch it off and for that particular one hour, i do hope that all of you would be able to minimize your movement to avoid any untowards incident that might happen without light around. If possible, just stay indoor and enjoy the Night View outside.

The date and time to remember:

Date: 26th March 2011
Time: 8.30pm - 9.30pm

Thanks for your understanding.

From the result of the event, seems many of the Vista Bay residents aware about this special moment. I believe next time, if were to make more advertisement about this by telling each and every resident about this event and how important it is, perhaps this would not be the case anymore. For those who did follow the event, congrats to you guys and i hope we would continue helping mother nature in helping us keeping our place as prosperous as possible.
